Congratulations to Dallas Braden
Today the 26-year-old Oakland Athletics’ pitcher threw a perfect game—one of the hardest feats in all of baseball.
Even though Braden will be making headlines for the next several days, it was his last week’s altercation with New York Yankee’s third baseman Alex Rodriguez that grabbed everyone’s attention.
Rodriguez walked over the pitcher’s mound, as Braden was about to set up for a pitch. Braden took offense to Rodriguez’s actions. In baseball, some say this is an unwritten rule. You never walk over the pitcher’s mound.
After expressing his displeasure to the Yankee third baseman, Braden proceeded to head back to the dugout after the inning in disgust.
After the game, Rodriguez wasn’t worried or felt like he did something wrong to the Athletics’ pitcher. Citing that Braden’s “15 minutes of fame” is all but over. Rodriguez went on to say, Braden’s sense of entitlement was unjust.
Well Alex, after throwing a perfect game, not allowing a base runner the entire game, maybe Braden has solid ground to stand on.
Last time I checked, Braden’s impact has made a bigger difference than yours this season.
So before you open your mouth about Braden being a nobody, realize this one key fact; in today’s world of professional athletes, it’s a “What have you done for me lately” environment.
What you have done lately Alex, .275 batting average, 3 homeruns and 19 runs batted in. While this is nothing to sneeze at, you still haven’t thrown a perfect game.
Please get off your pedestal and taking that stupid painting off the your wall above your bed.
